Mezzanine platforms offer one of best ways for companies to increase storage space within their existing facilities. We are big supporters of the use of mezzanines as they are fully customizable to each buyers needs and provide exceptional value. Mezzanines use the additional unused vertical space in facilities to build “up” rather than “out”. Although with the added space comes added risk.
A mezzanine storage platform was already installed in our customer’s facility. The added storage space was just what they needed but there were concerns about how to keep employees safe around the mezzanine edges. The problem occurred when materials where being lifted up onto the platform buy forklift. Doing so left open unguarded space which could prove dangerous to employees. One slip and fall could prove to be deadly and so a solution was desperately needed.
In order to continue to allow materials to be lifted to the mezzanine by forklift a flexible solutions was required in order to not block off the access. Rite-Hite has been keen on developing many new safety products in recent years and they had just the solution we were looking for. The Gatekeeper safety system is designed just for applications like this. The Gatekeeper blocks off employees when materials are being lifted to the platform and uses a reciprocating gate to block off forklift access when someone enters the gatekeeper. The system is best explained by seeing the process in action
The product was installed on the customer’s mezzanine providing a great looking highly functional product. As with all Rite-Hite products the service from the manufacture is second to none allowing for an easy installation of a great product.
